Leeds Have Super League's Biggest Turnover on Record Here. They Still Finished 8th.

In the 2024 Super League season covered by these accounts, Leeds finished 8th on 28 points and missed the play-offs entirely, despite a turnover of around £12m, the largest disclosed in this dataset and comfortably ahead of every other club that reports the figure. The season had its moments, including twin late drop-goal wins over London Broncos inside three months, but an 8th-place finish is a modest return for the biggest budget on paper.

Turnover grew by around 2.4% on the year, and staff costs of about £6m worked out at almost exactly half of turnover, a notably disciplined ratio next to some of the wage bills elsewhere in this data. The result was a loss before tax of around £2m, smaller in proportion to turnover than several rivals who spent a much higher share of revenue on wages.

The balance sheet is arguably the healthiest in this dataset: net assets of around £10m, the only club here with a comfortably positive net asset position, alongside modest borrowings of about £0.5m and low interest costs. Whatever pressures Super League clubs are under financially, Leeds' underlying balance sheet looks in solid shape.

The mismatch is the story: the club with the biggest turnover and the strongest balance sheet in this data finished mid-table, while smaller-revenue clubs went deep into the play-offs. Financial size and league position clearly aren't the same measure, and Leeds' 2024 accounts are the clearest illustration of that gap anywhere in this dataset.
